We stood in solidarity with the people of Dinjapur this morning for the first day of 16 Days of Activism to end violence against women and girls. The work of Pollisree and the strong and committed team there was obvious on the streets as women and men formed a human chain along the road. The protest focused on ending the early marriage of girls, the many problems associated with dowry and the impact this has on women and violence committed against them.

We need to see action not just for 16 days but every day until we see an end to the violence, and a transformation in the power relations throughout all layers of our world.

It was an honour to be standing alongside amazing sisters this morning. And then throughout the day share stories and to hear the change happening in women’s lives.

These problems are systemic and deep and we have a long way to go, but you can see and feel that change is underway here, and there is much courage to continue this struggle
