Our wonderful new webmaster has redesigned the blog to make it more mobile-friendly, provide a better range of website-redesign-cartoonreading etc. Hopefully it will also sort out ongoing problems with people not receiving the email alerts they’ve signed up for.

So please could you take the following highly sophisticated poll, and send any thoughts, and use the comments to tell us about any remaining glitches or other feedback?

  1. – Change headline font to Oxfam font given proximity to logo?
    – Change red sidebar tildes (~) to green?
    – Images still appear mid sentences in RSS
    – Formatting of checkboxes in this comment box a bit skew whiff

Finally we can read the blog (on Chrome and in Canada if that was the problem) without it appearing as a narrow — and very long — strip of text down the LH side of the page with everything else blank.

    Great move!

  3. Could you check the recent comments bit? When someone has given a website, clicking on their name seems to go to that website rather than to the comment. I liked being able to see which post people had commented on in the old format – you can see that now but only by hovering over the name, and that doesn’t work when they’ve given a website and the link is to that website instead. Not sure if the font has changed, but it feels a bit more serif-y and harder to read – though that may just be me feeling tired on a Monday morning…

  4. Digital marketing-savvy. Very cool. It makes sense to use the Oxfam font on the logo. Too bad it’s not really an attractive one.

  5. Agree on RSS image location fails continuing. I also don’t much like the new font, but that bothers me less as I mostly read on RSS. Too much white, and pale greys of comments fields hard to make out if laptop screen not well positioned, and “Notify me …” check boxes do not align on my Chrome browser. Finally “Please … vote (over there on the right)” does not work when viewing single posts as there is no right hand margin column.

Sorry for the “meh!” but I hope constructive feedback helpful. Loving the content (albeit with weirdly positioned pictures) as much as ever.

  6. In response to a few comments, I’ve deleted the ‘featured’ back catalogue – the big pics plus links at the top of the page. Do you prefer it like this?

  7. I’m still not getting the emails – they stopped a few weeks ago, all of a sudden, and as they’re not getting to either of my subscribed addresses at the moment, I don’t think it’s security/spam issues at my end. I’m missing your updates! I do hope this can be resolved.

  8. Your 2nd page back link doesn’t work, it just goes back to the top of page 2, had to adjust URL manually to get to page 3

  9. My email alerts stopped in late June and haven’t resumed – do i need to sign up again? Just when I had finally got over the glitch of the blog being a big long text strip on the left side – grrrr

  10. My email alerts stopped as well. I tried signing up under a second email but that has not helped either. Sure hoping this can be fixed. Warm regards, patti petesch

  11. As with others, myself and all my colleagues who I’d so diligently recruited to be blog subscribers no longer receive email notifications and when we try to subscribe again, we get an error message and a message saying already subscribed :-(
