Marika Hackman plays Oxfam Dalston

Oxjam is all about supporting grassroots talent, finding the headliners of tomorrow and supporting the poverty-fighting work of Oxfam. Many of our acts performing will be taking the first steps in their career but the support we’ve had from artists who are a bit further down the line in their careers has been incredible. Artists like Everything Everything, Annie Mac, Mr Jukes and Into The Ark have all come together to support Oxjam 2017 and this week, at Oxfam Dalston, it was the turn of the enthralling Marika Hackman.

We must confess to being particularly excited by this one, seeing as Marika had released one of the best darn indie-folk albums of the year back in June, and on the very day of the gig she dropped the new video for ‘Times Been Reckless’. It’s fair to say that we were buzzing for the opportunity to see her play in such an intimate and unusual setting, as were many others including one fan, Elizabeth, who even skipped school to make it! (note Oxjam does not condone skipping school in any way… even if you do make it home with a signed copy of the setlist).

Have a listen to her latest single below, and scroll through our photo gallery from the day. Big thanks to Marika Hackman for such an incredible performance, this really was a one off.
